Carnival of the Animals (Part 3)

Carnival of the Animals (Part 1)

These are videos of "Carnival of the Animals" composed by Camille Saint-Saens, that Scott made for Sundy to use in her classroom. They are composed of music and pictures. All together they are a little over 22 minutes but very entertaining. Sundy shared these with all the music teachers in the district and they all loved them. The kids also love watching them.

FUSD Science Olympiad 2009

This year Kiara and Katia were chosen to represent their grades in the school's science club. They participated in a school competition a couple months ago and were able to move on to the district level of competition. Today they held the Florence Unified School District Science Olympiad at Anthem K-8 and they both were on the same team but in different groups. Kiara participated in the Rock and Mineral, Clay Boat, Egg Drop, and Solar System events, while Katia did the Clay Boat, Write It - Do It, Can Racer, and Mystery Architecture events. They both had alot of fun as did Scott watching them. The event had a group of 'Mad Scientists' that showed the kids some fun they can have with science. They both made slime and were able to touch foam that disappeared when you touched it. It was amazing all the things you can do with dry ice. It was a great event. By the way their team took FIRST for the elementary teams and now they will be able to participate in the county competition. Long Live Science!

Arizona Cardinals Are Superbowl Bound!

Last year the Superbowl was in Phoenix and this year they are going to it. Way to go Arizona Cardinals. Although I am a huge J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! fan, it doesn't hurt to route for the home team like I did when I was in Colorado. They are looking good and I think they just might win. GO CARDINALS!!!

Seussical, The Musical

Production has begun! Lights are being hung! Costumes are being sewn! Sets are being created! And a cast of 100 students are learning the songs for the Broadway musical, Seussical Jr. Sundy wonders what she has gotten herself into. But the kids love the annual tradition of putting on a "real" Broadway show! Kiara and Katia are cast as two of the six, sassy, bird girls who narrate the story with the Cat in the Hat. Wish us luck! And come see the show on March 5th and 6th!

Happy New Year 2009

We spent New Years with the Haskins. We enjoyed lots of fondue and laughs. Scott was excited that he was finally able to enjoy it for the first time in eight years. We rang in the new year by going outside and blowing horns and screaming. I am sure the neighbors loved us. After that we toasted in the new year with a little bit of sparkling cider. The girls had a blast!
